Pastors and Staff

A 1982 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Pastor Maier began his service to the Lord at Our Savior in December of 1989.

He has also served parishes in Marlette, MI and Arlington Heights, IL.

Pastor Maier also serves as Vice President of the West Region of the Michigan District, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Pastor Roy Olsen III
Associate Pastor

Pastor Olsen, is a former Lutheran school teacher and principal who graduated from Concordia Seminary St. Louis in May of 2005 and was ordained and installed at OSL as Associate Pastor on July 31 of 2005.

Karen has served Our Savior as Administrative Assistant since September, 1996. Previous career experiences were teaching secondary level business education classes and Finance Officer for the Michigan State Senate. She has a BA degree from Western Michigan University with graduate work done at both Central Michigan University and Michigan State University.

John joined the Our Savior family as Minister of Music and Worship in June of 2004.

The Horak's moved to Lansing from Utica, Michigan where John was the Minister of Music and Worship and his wife served as the Choral and Drama Instructor at Trinity Lutheran School, Utica.

John received his BS in Education and BA in Sacred Music from Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska and his Masters in Music from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Vicar Lang Yang, J.D.
Director of Hmong Ministries

Vicar Lang Yang was born in Xiengkhouang, Laos . His national origin is Hmong, which means "free people." He immigrated to Thailand, then to the United States .

He has two Associate degrees, one Bachelor of Science and a Juris Doctor degree.

Vicar Yang serves as Minister to the Hmong members at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Richville, Michigan, Our Savior Lutheran, and the Michigan District in general.

He also served the North America Hmong Ministry: Counselor for Hmong Pastoral care, Secretary / Treasurer LC-MS Hmong Hymnal Committee, and Secretary for Hmong Ministry Conference. Vicar Yang is currently enrolled at Concordia Lutheran Seminary-St. Louis, Missouri to begin his Pastoral training in the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT).

Sherrie began her shared secretary/ receptionist position in July, 2001. Sherrie and her husband can usually be found serving in the kitchen at any event that includes food. Prior to working at OSL, Sherrie worked as a financial coordinator in an orthodontic practice.
