Smile! Picture day is Friday, Sept 26.
The new school year has begun. We begin this year with a new building and many new students. Thank you for your patience as we learn a new routine and “tweak” the existing ones. A “take-home folder” will be sent home every Friday with any information for parents. I will try to put in a reminder note regarding upcoming quizzes, tests and any other major projects that may be due. Please sign the cover sheet on the folder and return it with your student by Monday. If you have any concerns please feel free to call me at school (517)882-3550 ext 207 or home (517)543-0672 or e-mail me at jconway@oursaviorchurch.org.
Just a reminder, the yearly Science Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 6:30pm in the gym. Each grade (K to 8th) will be displaying a project completed this year. The 5th and 7th grade classes will display their individual science fair projects which will be judged and ribbons awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Please plan on viewing this year’s science exhibits.
I would invite all to attend this Wednesday’s Advent pre-service dinner. It will be hosted by the 8th grade class with procedes going toward their class trip. The theme is from the Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol”. The menu will include home-made soup with rolls & breads. Following the dinner, the 7th & 8th grade choir will be singing during the advent service at 6:30 pm.
Advent service this Wednesday, December 5 at 6:30 pm with a meal prior to it in the gym.
Midterm is December 13.
Just a reminder about some upcoming events.
1. Tuesday, December 4 at 7:00 - Music Concert presented by the Bands & choirs
2. Wednesdays (December 5 through December 12) - Advent Service starting at 6:30
3. Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 - Children’s Christmas Program
Mark your calendar and plan on attending.
The week of Thanksgiving has much going on to be thankful for. First it was great meeting with the parents of my students during Parent-Teacher Conferences to share the progress of your child(ren). Second, Grandparents/Special Persons day is this Wednesday. The schedule begins that day with a music concert at 8:30 am, followed by classroom activities, and concluded with worship at 10:45 am. Remember that dismissal that day is after worship about 11:30 am. Third, Thanksgiving break gives us a time to be with family and friends and remember all the Lord did for the Pilgrims and what He continues to do for us today. Have a blessed holiday.
It is hard to believe that the first quarter is only a week from ending. That’s right, on Friday, November 9th the first quarter officially comes to an end. Any out-standing work due to absense or missing assignments will need to be turned in by Friday. This includes sermon reports and service hours. There will be a half-day on Friday. Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, November 13. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, November 14 & 15 from 5:30-9:00 pm and Friday, November 16 from 9:00-12:00 am. Conferences are on a first come first serve basis with Mr. Stoelting, Mrs. Greve, and myself. All 7th grade students/parents must meet with me since I am the 7th grade home room teacher.
In Sunday’s worship we observed the work of Martin Luther and the Reformation. We will be having a harvest party instead of a Halloween party on Wednesday at 2:30. Costumes can be worn but should reflect the Christian views we all share. Please no witches, wizards, demons, devils, or “bloody” costumes. Thank you.
Did you receive your sign-up form from your 7th grade student? Kim Grulke sent home (about 2 weeks ago) a sign-up form for holiday parties and up-coming PTL events. If you did not receive yours, contact Mrs. Conway or Kim Grulke directly. Thanks!
