The 7th and 8th Grade students of Our Savior will be presenting the Spring musical at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20th, in the Church Sanctuary. The I.M.A.G.E Outlet, an outlet mall is the setting. The main characters are 2 mannequins who come to life and question why humans have faith in another human! The funny dialog is wrapped around some awesome music that helps our teens tell why they believe that God loves and accepts them as they are, in spite of all their sins.
Everyone is invited to celebrate that night with us as we confirm and affirm the Love that God has for each one of us. “I am somebody, because God loves me.” Hope to see you at the Image Outlet!

Saturday, March 15, the Varsity Cheer Team traveled to Utica, MI to compete at the CYO Cheer Final. The girls did an amazing job closing their season with their best score of the year. The talented teams from the Detroit area performed some amazing skills and stunts, with 2 of the teams having team standing back tucks. This is amazing for 7th and 8th Grade teams.
I am so proud of our OSL Lady Panthers and what they’ve been able to achieve this year. They took third, then second and won the runner up trophy, then 3rd/4th at their competitions. That is INCREDIBLE. Each competition their scores increased by 40 or more points! I can’t wait to see what happens next year. Way to go Ladies! Thank you for a GREAT competitive season.
I also want to thank our 8th Graders who took the floor for the last time. We will miss your leadership, skills and attitude next year. God willing, we will come see you compete on your high school team. Blessings, love and CHEERS! Mrs. H.
Last Thursday, our 7th and 8th Graders attended the Lutheran Schools Music Festival at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, MI.
The Band, Bells and Choir were judged on two prepared pieces and given ratings. Ratings are based on the following criteria: tone quality, pitch factors, rhythm factors, technique, interpretation/presentation, and selection. It was an awesome day for all groups. The students did their finest performances and participated in a campus-wide Chapel Service as well. When all the groups had finished performing for the judges, everyone headed over to the cafeteria for an all you care to eat lunch. For some this was the best part of the day…while others liked the bus ride!
The ratings received by the judges were: Bells - I, Band - II, and Choir - I. Praise God for the talent He has given our children. We are proud of you!
What a great start to National Lutheran Schools Week! From the visiting author, to the sock hop and bubble gum blowing contest - we had a GREAT time!
Now if I can only get the the abundance of hairspray and bow out of my hair…
What a beautiful anthem sung by the 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Choir last night! Thank you all for sharing your talent and love for our Lord through “In the Shadow of the Cross.” A special “thank you” to our soloist, Colton.
God be praised as we continue down this Lenten Road.
Saturday, January 26, the Varsity Cheer Team was part of the Mason Competitive Cheer Invitational.
The Team did an awesome job on their 2 rounds/cheers that combine gymnastics, flexibilty, stunting and cheer. Even though the girls were nervous, it did not show! They performed their Round 2 flawlessly. Round 3 had a couple errors, but in the end, the Team ended up with a 3rd place finish. This is SO impressive! For any school to place at their first meet in the school’s history, is beyond any coach’s imagination.
Plus, the girls competed against public school teams who practice 5 days per weeks and have been competing for years! I am proud of them and I hope you join me in congratulating them. Go Panther Cheer!
This Saturday, January 26, the Varsity Cheer Team will be part of the Mason Competitive Cheer Invitational. If you have never been to a cheer competition before, this is your chance. The girls will do 2 rounds that combine gymnastics, flexibilty, stunting and cheer. After many hours of hard work, they are ready to take OSL Cheer to the next level. The girls are IMPRESSIVE. Hope to see you at Mason High School - 2 p.m. We need LOTS of fans there to cheer us on!
Last night I watched as our 7th and 8th Varsity Cheer Team took their first steps - literally - into the world of competitive cheer. With tears in my eyes, I knew I was witnessing the START of what will be a fantastic season.
For those of you who read this and think - right…cheerleading is not competitive, nor even a sport…I encourage you to come watch a practice on a Friday afternoon. Talk to the student-athletes on the team about the condidtioning, teamwork, endurance and strength it takes to be successful at the sport. Competitive cheer has evolved so fast that the MHSAA directors are predicting that next year, competitive cheer will be the biggest middle school and high school sport in the state for young women! WOW!!!
I am so proud of these fine young athletes. I am thankful for the leadership of my assistant coach Ally Ash, who has taken my dream of seeing OSL’s cheer program take that “next step” while preparing our girls to be successful at the high school level.
Watch for updates and pictures as we “achieve the dream!” Cheers!
Practice began today for the Children’s Christmas Service that will be celebrated on December 19 at 6:30 p.m. The theme this year is “A Christmas Creed.”
Join us as the children of OSL recount the events that lead to the birth, life and resurrection of our New-born Savior! “Jesus is the Story, Jesus is the Truth!”
